How we work together

Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. The way we work will depend on what you're dealing with, what feels right for you and what you're hoping to achieve.

Counselling

In counselling, my job is to work alongside you as you explore what's troubling you - without judgement, in a genuine, caring and supportive environment. We can use creative tools if that suits you, or we can simply talk. It's your space, and we'll use it in whatever way helps you most.

Sessions last for 50 minutes, and how many you need will depend entirely on you - the issues you're facing and the goals you want to achieve.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a more structured approach, but we still work as a team. Together we identify the memories that are feeding your current issues and process them to reduce the symptoms you're living with. For many people, EMDR is the fastest and most effective way to create real change.

Sessions last for a minimum of one hour, and the number you'll need depends on how many memories we're working with.

You can find detailed information about EMDR, including how it works and what to expect, on my EMDR page.

Intensive EMDR

If you're ready to really commit and want to tackle a specific issue head-on, intensive EMDR might be right for you. Instead of spreading the work over several weeks or months, we condense it into a few focused days, working together for 3 or 6 hours in a day during the processing phase.

Many clients choose to take a day or two of annual leave to focus on their therapy. It's an investment of time upfront, but it means you can make significant progress quickly rather than fitting an hour here and there around everything else in your life.

After intensive work, some clients finish therapy altogether. Others book 4-6 appointments throughout the year for check-ins - to maintain their progress, stay focused and set new goals. It becomes something that supports your life without taking it over.

You can find detailed information about EMDR, including how it works and what to expect, on my EMDR page.
